Bowie, MD- The 7th annual Rites of Passage was attended by 70 prospects from California to Florida. NYGHoops Report got a chance to cover the one day event. This write up focuses on some of the top performers from 2022-24 class..
Mila Reynolds 6-1 W Illinois Xcitement 2022
Reynolds was for sure one of the top performing prospects, regardless of class at the ROP. She was one of the few players that showed the ability to play all five positions at some point during the event. Mila showed the ability to go coast to coast, score from behind the arc and has the strength to play under the rim.
Kiyomi McMiller 5-1 PG OSA Sharpshooters 2024
Lil moma can flat out play, some kids develop good skill sets at an early age. But with McMIller it more than just that she actually understands the game. Kiyomi only participated in the first half of the event before taking off for a four-hour trip to Syracuse Elite camp. And I got word from reliable sources that she performed at a high level in camp as well.
Madisen McDaniel 5-00 PG Team Takeover 2024
McDaniel is another youngster I had the opportunity to see play at Philly Face off this past May. She kept the ball on a string at ROP and played both the role of facilitator and scorer. As she continues to grow and develop she will be one to keep tabs on.
Hannah Hildago 5-2 PG Philly Triple Threat 2023
I knew nothing about this young lady when I walked through the door of ROP Saturday morning. But did not take long to figure it out. First a HS coach approached me to ask me about her. Second her mom happened to be sitting to the side of me on the baseline as AAU coaches Kept complimenting her on her daughter’s abilities. The smooth, skilled young PG did not disappoint with her ball handling skills and court vision.
Yonta Vaugh 5-5 PG Havoc City SOL 2022
This was my forth time seeing her from the spring. However this kid’s game is like fine wine, it gets better with time. Although only a rising 8th grader, Vaugh plays like a season vet. She showed the ability to run a team,0 score at three levels, and finish with contact. The beauty of her game is she does not rely on athletic ability, she kills you with the simple things.
Courtney Ogben 5-8 G FBC YoungGunz 2023 (Pictured)
Another youngster I was quite familiar with. Ogben’s ability to score and be productive at such an early stage is scary. At ROP she showed touch from behind the arc and a scorers mentality verses the older players.
Paulina Paris 5-5 G Exodus 2022
Paris play at ROP reaffirmed what many in the NYC area already knew about the young floor general. Paulina is a spicy NYC style PG, that college coaches come east looking for. At first glance she looks harmless like the little kid next door, but a few times up and down the court you realize she is a pathological scorer with range and very good ball handling skills.
Camille Jackson 5-8 G Illinois Xcitement 2022
I’ve gotten a chance to see this young lady a few times in the past few years. Still can’t believe this kid is like 11 or 12, she is physically built and has the skill sets of a high school junior. Jackson was basically unstoppable getting to the rim. At ROP she displayed ball handling skills, strength, balance, and a nose for scoring and making plays.
Leah Harmon 5-1 PG North Jersey Blast 2024
Cierra Pearson 5-7 G NJ Lady Titans 2022
Kiki Rice 5-8 G Germantown Lady Panthers 2022
Isuneh Brady 6-2 F SD Intensity 2022
Gia Cooke 5-5 G Fairfax Stars 2022
Madison Nimmo 5-3 G Power Moves 2022
Gianni Boone 5-9 G Havoc City SOL 2022
Abbie Grace 6-0 F NY Havoc 2022
Kayla Beckford 5-8 NJ Sparks 2022
Julianna Laguna 5-8 G Philly Belles
Paris Clark 5-6 PG NY Hoopers 2022
