Upper Marlboro, MD- The 8th annual She Got Game Classic hosted 117 teams, from 2 countries at 7 high schools over a 3 day period. NYGHoops Report got a chance to see many of the nations top prospects; this write-up will focus on uncommitted lead guards.
Honesty Scott-Grayson 5’10 PG Paul VI 2018
Some guards dominate one aspect during a game; however, Scott-Grayson showed the ability to do numerous things at a high level. Her ability to have an impact without having to score many points is unique. Her size allowed her to defend bigger players and her athletic ability allowed her to guard smaller guards. She created off the bounce, rebounded, contested shots, got steals & deflections. She is a big lead guard that can play multiple positions. Her value is measured more in wins & looses than just points.
Jordan Nixon 5’10 G the Mary Loui Academy 2018
Nixon is a confident floor general that displayed a nice stroke from mid-range. She has nice handles, reads pressure, has good decision making, is a distributor, and competitor. Nixon was depended on heavily for her team's offense as a playmaker and scorer. At this points of her development, playing at this level will only help her in the future.
Chanel Wilson 5’07 PG McEachern 2018
Wilson was as slick of a playmaker as there was in the event this past weekend. The scoring guard did a good job balancing between scoring and sharing the ball. Her quick first step kept her one step ahead of the defense, while her ball handling allowed her to get anywhere she wanted on the court.
Eniya Russell 5’09 PG Coppin Academy 2020
Russell’s ability to create, her ball handling skills, shooting touch and her size helped her establish herself as one of the premiere young floor generals in DC last week. The fluid athlete changes speed and direction effortlessly with the ball in her hands. She displayed the ability to carry some of the scoring load but also showed good vision distributing the ball.
Lauren Hackett 5’05 PG St Anthony’s 2018
The New York lefty came out hot right out the gate versus regional power Good Counsel (VA) and directed her team to an impressive victory. One word to label her would be a producer; she did a nice job running the team and being vocal. She showed range to the three-point line and was not afraid to get after it.
Lauren Park-Lane 5’05 PG Sanford 2019
Floor general with some swag and confidence. Park-Lane had the ball on a rope. She also showed the ability to play in half court setting as well in transition. She demonstrated good body control, good IQ, a mid-range shot and the ability to shoot the three. The most important thing was this kid looked like she is having fun playing basketball; you don’t see that very often.
