Astoria, NY- Sunday while many were home watching football, some young talented ladies attended Rising Blue Star in NYC. NYGHoops Report was on hand to see the event!
Kayla Lezama 5’09 G (Boston Lady Stars, MA 2023)
Because her dad needed to get back to Massachusetts, Lezama only technically attended half of the camp. That was enough time to leave a lasting impression. The wiry, strong two guard showed the ability to finish through contact and score consistently from the perimeter. Kayla’s range extended to the three-point line and she showed the willingness to contribute on the defensive end. Hands down one of the top 7
th graders if not one of the best players at the event.
Melannie Delay 5’10 G (Empire State Blue Flames, NY 2021)
I was very familiar with Delay going into the camp and she performed at a high level like every other time I’ve seen her. The long, lean athletic built guard was equally effective slashing, pulling up from mid-range or from behind the arc. She competed on both ends of the floor and showed balance; juggling between scoring and dishing the rock.
Ava LaClair 5’07 PG (Albany Lady Stars, NY 2022)
LaClair was for sure one of the top lead guards during this session on RBS. She is a heady player that uses her IQ taking what the defense give her. She has a skill set you want to see in a young PG, and for some reason she is almost always on the winning team.
Lindsay Drozd 5’11 G (Harlem USA, NY 2021)
Drozd showed a lot of potential. I was not really familiar with her game due to the fact that this was my first time seeing this productive and efficient prospect. As she continues to round out her game she will soon be on the radar of college coaches.
Taeghan Flaherty 5’11 G (Empire State Blue Flames, NY 2020)
I am very familiar with this prospect from NYG events & her AAU team. Solid size, built and skill sets. Was always around winning at the RBS NYC this past weekend. Handles contact well off the drive, scored on three levels.
Megan Louridas 5’11 W (Albany Lady Stars, NY 2022)
Nice combination of size and perimeter skills. She uses her length to her advantage on both ends of the floor. Nice mid-range jumper and touch around the rim and displayed awareness and IQ.
Remi Sisselmen 5’10 W (LI Renegades, NY 2021)
Resi displayed an attacking mentality with the ball in her hands. She did not back down from the physical play at the event. She has good looking individual skill sets, was able to create her own shot. She operated mostly from within the arc, but did show the ability from behind the arc.
Maya Cwalina 6’02 F (NYC Lady Bulldogs, NY 2021)
Zaayaa Young 5’08 G ( ST Joseph HS, NY 2021)
Sierra Bermudez 5’06 G (Lady Panthers, PS 2021)
Ellie Cerf 4’10 PG ( ST Joseph HS, NY 2024)
Lexie Tarul 5’10 G (NYC Lady Bulldogs, NY 2021)
Kayla Halvorsen 5’07 G (Empire State Blue Flames, NY 2021)
