Olivia Owens, is no longer one of the best kept secret in the northeast recruiting 2018 class. The solid, fluid and athletic interior force currently holds offers from
Syracuse, Minnesota, Purdue, Miami and Delaware. She is alsostarting to hear from Uconn, Maryland, North Carolina, Stanford, Notre Dame, South Carolina Buffalo & Brown. NYGHoops Report got a chance to speak to both Olivia and her Albany City Rocks coach Keith Danzy, about her recruitment.
“After I received my first interest letter from Wake Forest University (7
th grade) reading it over and over again in disbelief, I knew college basketball was something to look into. Ever since then, it's been my goal to get into a great college with a competitive basketball program, and maybe even go on to the WNBA.” Owens who played two season in the Nike EYBL16U circuit, is now playing on the Under Amour circuit with the City Rocks organization. The Niskayuna HS rising Junior has the size, strength, speed, coordination and frame that college coaches love. She has already visited Harvard, Syracuse and Iowa State University and plans on visiting Maryland on June 25
th and UConn at the end of the Summer.
Albany City Rocks Director/Coach Keith Danzy on his post players recruitment “I like how Maryland & Uconn have really taken their time to get to know Olivia and her family. More important than an offer is that head coaches have drove up to Albany to see you play/practice, Geno & Brenda Frese have done that and not too many offered kids can say that.”
