NYG Tune Up 2.0 2021-22
Mooresville, PA- The second year event, NYG Tune Up 2.0 kicked off the July evaluation period with teams participating from as far West as California & Illinois. The boutique style event accommodated some lesser-known talented prospects. In this write up we will focus on some of the top uncommitted prospects at the event.
Kennedy Perkins 5’6 Baylor Basketball 2022
Perkins picked up right where she left off last year at the first Tune-Up. She came east and showed why she is considered one of the top prospects in her class in the State of Illinois. Perkins got into the lane at will. She plays bigger than her listed size and displayed the ability to finish with contact and over bigger players. The three-level scorer drew plenty of fouls during her time in PA. This time next year she will be on a power five roster.
Hailey Kellogg 5’6 PG VA Elite 2022
Coming into the event we knew nothing about this prospect, but after watching her play for two days we left the event very impressed with this floor general. A three level scorer, coach on the floor that can score and racked up traditional assists but also hockey assists. Kellogg is a hard noise throwback that does all the simple things that at time can get overlooked in the era of highlights. She is a D1 Caliber lead guard.
Lydie Mwamba 6’1 F Hunting Park Warriors 2022
While not a household name, but this combo forward does a lot of things that translate to the next level. Mwamba exhibited the ability to play both facing and with her back to the basket. The athletic and agile combo, scored in a variety of ways. Stretching the floor connecting on three pointers, running the floor in transition in addition to playing in the lane area. Something that caught our eyes was her ability to start her team’s offense but rebounding and delivering pin point outlet passes.
Ellie Roam 5’11 W/F West Coast United – Gay 2022
Not sure what her recruiting looks like, but we are certain that what ever D1 gets her will be hard to keep her of the floor next year. In her two days at the event, no player played harder than this 5’11” wing from West Coast United. She played way bigger that her listed size. Roam worked the boards and was no stranger to hitting the floor headfirst. I felt like she was involved in most her team’s “50/50 balls”.
She was WCU’s 6th “man” and looking back on it - it totally makes sense. Her (positive) impact on the game was immediate. Although she flourished in her role let’s not get it twisted her skill set allowed her to score in numerous ways outside of her “hustle” plays.
Adrien LaMora 5’11 Syracuse Royals 2022
You would think that a team with two D1 guards it could be hard for a front court player to find touches. However, it quite the opposite for LaMora, who created her own opportunities off the boards and knocking down perimeter shots from behind the arc. During two days at the event she played way bigger than he listed height mostly by using her strong build to create leverage which allowed her to compete against “the trees”.
Taya Davis 5’7 G Baylor Basketball 2021
Davis was a nuisance on both ends of the court. In a regular no Covid season it would surprise us to see a player of such talent not signed to a NCAA D1 roster this late. The athletic combo was equality as effective on the ball as off it.
Anaya Coleman 5’6 Syracuse Royals 2022
This Michigan native, has done a great job getting adjusted to east coast style of play. In the past she has played more of a tradition pass first PG. During this event at times, she was played off the ball more and asked to score more and that she did. Both off the bounce and from behind the arc. What caught our eye was her ability to score efficiently.
Bridget Miller 6’1 (F) Syracuse Royals 2022
Mikala Rambert-Carter 6’5 (P) Hunting Park Warriors 2022
Talaya Guirantes 5’10 (F) Lady Xman 2021
Chanel Shuck 5’7 (G) Lady Xman 2022
Taniyah Finney 5’6 (PG) Hunting Park Warriors 2022
