NYC TOP 10 TEAMS

With the girl’s basketball season less than three weeks away, NYGHoops Report presents to you the pre-season NYC five Borough Top 10. 

 

 

1- Christ The King 

 

On paper the area best team has a great combination of experience, skill and size. Its also hard to argue against a high school team with three future ACC players in Sydney Zambrotta, Kaela Kender and Dominique Toussaint. 

 

2- South Shore HS

 

Last years Public School City Champs will no long have the presence of a 6’3 post to protect the lane (Brianna Fraser) . However don't write them off, they have a number of young guards that will help light up the scoreboard. Senior leadership will be provided in 5’10 Jordan Washington.

 

3- Bishop Loughlin HS 

 

Loughlin is a very young team with lots of varsity experience however the lack of depth will be there an Achilles heel this year. But having one of the Nations top 2017 PG’s in Milicia “Mimi” Reid & 2018 Post Zaria Dorsey that will give them a fighting chance every night out. 

 

4- Mary Louis Academy 

 

Having a healthy Jasmine Brunson back for her senior year is terrible news for the GCHSAA. When healthy she is one of the states more prolific scorers. Now combined with the highly sought after 2017 recruit Danielle Patterson TMLA should have a great one two punch.

 

5- Nazareth Regional HS

 

The days of being nationally ranked as just a few years ago are gone for now, however this will have to be one of the best coaching jobs of Coach Kelly’s career to win it all. Seniors Niya Johnson (VCU) & Erykah Russell will have to turn their potential into productivity to win a AA chip.

 

6- Grand Street Campus 

 

Not many teams in the PSAL will have as much talent as the Lady Wolves. However the potential of this team will depend oh how long it takes the talented team to jell as a team. They will be led by 2017 Shanique Edwards  & 2016 Kaisah Lucky

 

7- Monsignor Scanlon 

 

Many of the teams above Scanlon are traditional powers year in and year out. Scanlon’s assets will be coach Tom Catalanotto and 2017 (PG) Delphynia Sparks and  2016 (W/F)  Nukiya Mayo (Towson). 

 

8- Staten Island Academy 

 

Returning last years class B most outstanding player in the state tournament ’206 Corinn Baggs (Wagner) & Head Coach Rose Bruno SIA wills and a chance every night. 

 

9-Boys & Girls HS 

 

Last year Boys high snuck up on people. This year they have one of the most talented rosters in the PSAL from top to bottom led by 2017 Fatoumata Konara and 2018 Kania Ploock

 

 

10- Murry Bergtraum 

 

The Lady Blazers are young and loaded with underclassmen guards. Its been a two year hiatus from the city championship but if they are to make it back to championship contention  2016 Adella Brown & 2018 Infinity Hammond's will have to have big years. 

 

 

Other teams: Francis Lewis HS , Harry H. Truman HS & Archbishop Molloy.
