Brooklyn, NY- The Northeast Super 64 exposure camp, was a first year event that gathered players from seven states under one building with one goal. Evaluators from multiple outlets were present to observe the abundance of talent. This recap will focus on the talented prospects in the class of 2020.
Class of 2020
Janayshia Brown 6’01” W/F (PA)
Brown did a nice job at the event operating inside and out. Her post defense is a strength and altering shots. She showed the ability to attack the rim off the bounce facing up from the elbow. She also showed good touch in knock down shots from 5-10 feet away with ease. Brown was no stranger to the skills sessions, at times making it look stress-free for her size.
Kayla Johnson 6’01 W/F (NY)
Johnson was one of younger participant in the entire camp. Without knowing her age there was no way of telling that she was less experienced. Johnson has a naturally strong frame. She has average handle for a high school upperclassman, despite operating as a rising 8
th grader. Rebounding, defensive commitment, and unselfishness make her an ideal teammate. She showed the ability to start the break, make good decisions and was not afraid to mix it up with the older campers.
Mackayla Scarlett 5’05” G (NY)
Scarlett is a slashing guard that usually does a great job playing in attack mode. Scarlett showed poise, skill-set and maturity beyond her years on the court. The deceptively strong guard is slippery and showed the ability to handle the ball with both hands and was not a stranger to the skills sessions.
Katari Poole 5’06” G (NY)
Poole may be a shooting guard. She already has a nice sturdy frame that allows her to attack the basket, but also showed good touch from the perimeter. Poole did a good job during the skill sessions, which indicates she has previously worked on her game.
Racquel Longobardi 5’05” PG (NY)
Longobardi was the best Staten Island pre high school prospect at the event. She was for sure not a novice to the skill sessions. Racquel displayed some ability to play on the ball as she continued to add strength. She can become a very dependable lead guard.
