Syracuse, NY- Nottingham HS hosted the inaugural Nicole “Slinky” Michael Skills Evaluation camp. Forty plus prospects went for five hours of instruction from Slinky and staff. NYGHoops Report was on hand to provide blanket coverage for the event. The following players stuck out to me.
Amani Free 6’00 (F) Long Island Lutheran 2018
Going off the dribble Free was elite at SSEC, using her three S’s (size, strength, speed). But what truly made her pearless at this event was her ability to knock down the three point shot time and time again whether in drills or during 5 on 5 competition.
Haille Hart 6’00 (W/F) Albany HS 2017
Tough athletic forward that can finish at the rim with contact but played mostly with her back to the basket finishing around the rim. Hart was a warrior rebounder, ran the court extremely well and showed the ability to get to the free throw line.
There was quite a few PG at the SSEC, but young Momo had the it factor. Although only listed at 5-7 and a slim built she was not afraid to get involved in everything from loose balls to rebounding. She was even better with the ball in her hands creating shots of the bounce with some spice in her game.
Hanna Strawn 5’04 (PG) Seton Catholic 2018
Small, quick, Lefty floor general with very good handles. Strawn used her quick first step, change of pace and creativity to getting her shot off. Strawn did a good job making shots and competing at both ends. I was made aware she has re-opened her recruiting process as she was previously a ST. Bonaventure’s commit.
Shailie Frierson 5’07 (PG) Troy HS 2017
She showed vast improvement over the past year. She showed the ability to play both on and off the ball. Frierson exhibited the ability to score of the bounce as well as form behind the three-point line.
Madison Smith 5’10 (G) West Genesse HS 2019
Athletic slasher who gets to the rim regularly and used her length to finish around the rim. Smith showed her ability to knock down the three point shot when left open.
Francesca Marchese 5’07 (S) Staten Island Academy 2019
I left SSEC really impressed with Marchesse’s shooting ability. The Staten Island native did a good job during skills session, 5 on 5 and shooting drills. But highlighted her self during the last session of camp winning the three point completion at one point making 7 of 10 threes.
Nicole Melious 5’05 (G) Exodus NYC 2023
Shwnessy Earle 5’10 (G/F) Homer HS 2019
McKenzie Smith 5’07 (PG) West Genesse HS 2019
Jalen Nowden 5’08 (PG) Hardley Allendale Columbia 2019
Taegham Flaherty 5’10 (G) Rye HS 2020
Eryhah Pasha 6’00 (F) Syracuse Academy of Science 2019
Freey Pleasant 5’08 (PG) Syracuse Academy of Science 2019
Julia Kelner 6’01 (P) Jamesville Dewitt 2021
Maeve Donnelly 6’04 (P) Susquehanna HS 2019
Alani Gallagher 6’00 (F) Vetal HS 2017
Lyrik Jackson 5’07 (G) Syracuse Academy of Science 2018
