Livonia, MI.- The Lady Baller Insider Michigan Mega Scrimmage has quickly become a staple in the mitten girls’ basketball scene. The one-day event allowed many of the state top prospects and late bloomers the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of many college coaches and scouts. Similar to years past, I got a chance to see some players that I wasn’t familiar with prior to attending the event. In this writeup - I will focus mainly on sophomores.
Morasha Wiggins6’00 W (Kalamazoo Central, MI 2021)
The confident, smooth, play maker caught my eye from a court away. I really enjoyed watching her, the athletic off-guard has a college-ready frame. Wiggins scored on all three levels and also helped with some of the ball handling duties during her three games. It would not be a stretch to say she was one of the top American prospects in the gym.
Latisha Lattimore6’05 P (Crestwood Prep, Can 2021)
Athletic interior prospect with tons of up size. Showed some ability to play both facing and with her back to the basket. Versatile defender who use her agility and awareness protecting the rim. Soft touch around the rim, mobility in up-tempo game, effective rebounder.
Bree Salenbien6’02 W/F (Adrain Lanawee Christian, MI 2021)
At first glance Salenbien looks like every other kid running around from afar. But as soon as you start to focus in on her game you realize quickly, she is not just another kid running around. Bree scored with ease from all three levels. The wirily built sophomore demonstrated enough ball handling skills to play the point at times. Her shooting touch extended to the arc and her length was for sure an asset on the defensive end.
Shayeann Day-Wilson5’07 PG (Crestwood Prep, Can 2021)
Jet quick, explosive, entertaining floor general that flourish in the up-tempo game. Day-Wilson had the ball on a rope. She did a good job using her creative ball handling and quickness in attacking defenders. Got into the lane at will, drove and dished also drove and delivered, showed range to beyond the arc.
Damiya Hageman5’05 PG (Detroit Edison HS, MI 2021)
Tough to contain off the bounce, has a bag of tricks, passes with flair and accuracy. Displayed range to the arc, team is super talented did a good job, balancing her scoring and distributing. Competed at both end and willing to get involved rebounding.
