Staten Island, N.Y. native Vanessa McManus, used her summer to improve her game. While many prospect play AAU during the summer, McManus decided to focus on improving her game training twice a day 6 days a week. The previous summer she played for the Jersey Gemz 16u EYBL.
Coming off a strong Junior campaign, in which she received Cynthia McGrath Sportsmanship Award and All League from the CHSAA coaches. Last night I got a chance to catch up with the uncommitted 5 foot 7, Nazareth Regional senior guard after her stellar performance at NYvsNY. NYGHR asked her about her goals for the upcoming season. “Personal goals - all conference first team and all-state selection ; Team goals - Win Conference championship and state championship.
When asked about what she is looking for in a College/ coaching staff she responded.. “I am looking for college who is willing to make me a better player/person and to push me on and off the court. Also, for them to have plans for me in their program future.”
Per her dad she is an A Student with a 1200 SAT score and a few AP classes under her belt. The McManus family promised to follow up with a recruitment story soon. Nazareth has had its storied history of D1 guards, she will be the next.
