2020 I77 Evaluation Showcase - August 8, 2020 Rock Hill, SC (Session 2)

Carolina Girls Hoops Report & NYGHoops have come together to host the I77 Evaluation Showcase for the 3rd year, the location changed to the South Carolina side of the I77 Highway that the event is named for.  This year's event has 3 sessions to help provide an opportunity for exposure to these young girl’s throughout this Global pandemic and also comply with the Covid safety precautions, I will look at each session separately to identify the top players.

 

Session 2

 

• 2023 - Jessica Woods - 5’7” - Guard - Westwood HS (SC) - SC Future - Strong Combo guard that can score in many ways, 3 Level scorer that can create offense from her defense. Strong ball handler that plays very well in transition, can finish in traffic and has high level court vision and passing ability.

 

• 2023 - Miya Giles-Jones - 6’0” - Guard - Terry Sanford HS (NC) - Fayetteville Stars - Elite level athlete that is a lockdown perimeter defender, can also act as a rim protector and guard all 5 positions. Can get to the rim and finish in traffic consistently, has 3-Pt range on her jumpshot, 1 of the Top 2023 Prospects in NC.

 

• 2023 - Laci Steele - 5’11”- Guard - Norman (OK) - OK Swarm - Made the trip from Oklahoma and showed why she is considered a top Wing prospect in the 2023 class Nationally, played extremely well during game play and was able to score at all 3 levels. Slasher that has a strong frame and ability to distribute the basketball with great vision.  High motor player that has advanced mid-range game.

 

• 2021 - Diamond McDowell - 6’0” - Forward - Asheboro HS (NC) - Asheboro Warriors - Athletic 2 way player that dominated in the paint at times throughout game play, strong frame that allows her to battle for rebounds & points in the lane, even though she has a wiry frame. Strong ball handler that can create matchup problems for players without foot speed, great  shot form and range on her jumpshot. 

 

• 2022 - Alexia Grant - 5’10” - Guard - 1st Baptist School (SC) - TMP - Extremely athletic guard that can really thrive in the transition game, quick 1st step and strong handle allows her to penetrate & dish at a high level. Can rebound over taller players with her leaping ability, outstanding perimeter defender.

 

• 2023 - Staci Williams - 5’7” - Guard - Holly Springs HS (NC) - ABC Lightning - Highly skilled lead Guard that can also operate as primary scorer, smooth ball handler that has advanced court vision and passing ability. Outstanding shot form and range to beyond 3-Pt line, Competes at a high level.

 

• 2021 - Jaiha Williams - 5’7” - Guard - Bishop England (SC) - Low Country Premier Players - Strong framed combo guard that is a slasher that can finish in traffic consistently, High IQ player that is a strong ball handler. Showed outstanding perimeter defense and play in transition.

 

• 2025 - Breonna Roaf - 5’6” - Guard - Middle School (NC) - Fayetteville Stars - High IQ Point guard that was able to turn steals into points consistently during game play, strong ball handler that has high level vision and passing ability. 1 of the Top Players in the 2025 Class in NC.

 

• 2022 - Tianna Spann - 6’1’ - Forward - 1st Baptist School (SC) - TMP - Strong frame and ability to rebound and score in traffic, runs the floor with purpose and ability to beat defenders down the court. Interior scorer with good footwork and range on her jumpshot  to stretch the floor to 15 feet, good ball handler.

 

• 2021 - Montasia Jones - 5’7” - Guard - Pinecrest HS (NC) - Fayetteville Stars - Extremely athletic Guard, Wing prospect that is a tremendous perimeter defender, uses her leaping ability to rebound over taller players and block shots on the defensive side of the floor.  Slasher that loves the contact at the rim, competes at a high level.

 

• 2022 - Ashanti Lynch - 5’8” - Guard - North Lenoir HS (NC) - Team Felton - Highly skilled player that can operate as a lead guard or primary scoring option, strong frame and ability to finish in traffic. Smooth ball handler that has some swag to her game, has great form and range on her jumpshot, High IQ and great communicator on the court.
