Troy, NY-. NYGHoops report took a trip “upstate” New York in particular the Capital region to check out Empire State Takeover’s summer league. This write up will focus on some of the standouts from the day where we got a chance to take in the High School & Middle School sessions.

Morgan Tompkins 5’10 G NY Havoc 2022 (Marist)
Versatile all-around guard/forward who has the ability to play just about any position at the high school level. Her skill set allows her to play on the perimeter while her physicality easily allows her to play in the lane as well. During 5 on 5 she showed that she as a three level scorer that can be just as effective without the ball in her hands. Throughout the day, she did the “little things” i.e set screens, defended rebounded and “won” the 50/50 ball battles.

Brianna Carey 5’6 G Staten Island Bulldogs 2023
When you attend section 2 power house Shenendehowa High School you just wait your time. After her performance at the EST Summer league, I think her time maybe now. She was by far one of the top shooters that night at the league. She connected from deep and often. She has a solid frame, exhibited body control and ability to score.

Kailey Kalet 5’8 Syracuse Royals 2023
Really enjoyed seeing Kalet at EST. The fundamentally sound combo guard manufactured shots. She was unstoppable headed down hill, all-night long. She created effectively in half-court set but her ability to compete on both end of the floor really stood out to us. She already holds offer form Merrimack, I see her recruiting spiking up this fall.

Lauren Filien 6’1 F NY Havoc 2022 (Stony Brook)
She does a bit of everything, agile front court player that brings level of smoothness. Looked comfortable facing the rim all the way out to the three-point line. Active on the glass, shot blocker straight up and form help side. Her game translates well form the next level.

Emma Shields 6’2 F Philly Rise 2022 (Lafayette College)
A long agile forward that proved equally as productive on the inside and on the outside. She rebounded, competed and scored around the rim and showed nice range on her shot. She also displayed a certain “toughness” that allowed her to compete on the defensive side in the paint area and on the wing area.

Elie Cerf 5’5 PG Albany Capitals 2024
I was very familiar with this young guard. Looks like she is turning the corner and becoming more of a complete lead guard. She balances scoring and creating for teammates very efficiently at EST. Range to the arc, uses hesitation really well, she is a name that we will hear form in the near future.

Amelia Woods 6’00 W NY Havoc 2022 (Sacred Heart)
Agile versatile big guard with front court side. Executes in half court and has a good feel for the game. Nice skill set that allows her to play both in the paint or the perimeter. Enjoyed watching her compete with a smile throughout the day.
92 Audrey Shield 6 ’01 W Philly Rise 2024
Fluid long perimeter player that can attack the rim. Flaunted range to the arc, deployed the ability to finish going right & left. As she develops more strength and ballhandling she will be one of the next D1 prospects out of the 518.
53 Caroline Williams 5’6 PG Albany Capital 2025
Crafty PG manufactures shots that brings a scoring punch to the backcourt. Looks to gets teammates involved, anticipates well on both end of the floor. Gets into the lane and gets to the line. As she continues to add strength she will be one to keep an eye out for.
