During the final four weekend, many of the nation’s top junior high school prospects gathered in the Lone Star State to participate in the Elite Girls Basketball All American game. NYGHoops got a chance to see parts of all three games. The following prospects caught my eye during the event.
Camille Jackson 5’09 PG IL X-Citement #61
Sharp ball handler that has the “it” factor. Jackson was able to manufacture and create for others off the bounce all game long. Very good 1 on 1 creator that can finish with contact. Showed enough shooting touch to keep the defense honest.
Ashlyn Watkins 6’02 F/P SC 76ers (SC) #60
Agile forward that showed superior ability to protect the rim. Competed on the boards and intimidated guards rejecting multiple shots. Watkins even had multiple dunk attempts during the lay-up line, for sure a future D1 player.
Skye Owen 5’06 PG IExcel (NY) #52
When you think of a NYC PG. She epitomized what you think of interns of her ball handling skill and ability to live in the lane. Owen came up with multiple steals that she turned into transition offense. Her ability to create off the bounce and set up teammates all day long was outstanding.
London Jones 5’06 PG Cal Sparks (CA) #22
Confident smooth explosive lead guard. Jet quick PG penetrated and looked to delivered off the bounce. The strength of her game was obvious, attacking off the dribble and playing in transition.
Timea Gardiner 6’01 F North West Blazers (Utah) #92
Gardiner’s ability to play inside and a bit facing the rim at such a young stage I development jumps out at you right away. She would run the floor and pinned defenders deep, creating entry lanes for passers to get her the ball. A few times she showed touch 8-12 feet out when facing up.
Nice college ready body type. Played mostly in the lane and used her size to her advantage, showed some foot work and ability to protect the rim.
Isabella Tanedo 5'05 PG MD
Fast ans Explosive lead guard, with a noise for making plays. Competed at a high level on both ends of the floor. Did shot some ability to connect with her shot from the mid-range.
