Hampton, VA –EGB Media duplicated the level of success of Elite 100, on east coast with the East Coast Elite 100 event. ECE100 was in a collaborative effort with NY Based NYGHoops Report; took place this past weekend at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. The latent rich event housed prospects from as far south as Texas and as far north as New Jersey in its first year. Part one of this event write up will focus on High School prospects.

Iyanna Rogers 6’02 F (VA) 2021
Rogers has roots in the New Jersey area, so I had some familiarity with her. But I was impressed with the improvements she has made from NYG March Madness to ECE100. Not yet a finished product, however Rogers size, ability and willingness to run the floor the floor jumps right out at you. She did not shy away from contact. She was most effective playing facing the rim, competed and was presence defensively blocking shots.

Dinachi Utah 6’00 F (VA) 2021
Not very familiar with this young lady. Nonetheless her size, athletic ability, strength, efficiency, productivity and last name got her noticed right away. At this point Utah would be best described as a forward. Her size allowed her to bang with the bigs, her athleticism and hustle kept her in line with the perimeter players. I did not see her handle much, but I’m sure she will end up on a D1 roster in a few years.

Kayla Thomas 6’02 F (MD) 2021
Going into the event I was quite familiar with Blue Star 30 / Bishop Ireton prospect. Thomas’s size, coordination, and ability to protect the rim was front and center at ECE100. She played mostly facing the rim Saturday, but as she develops her back to the basket game she will become a force.

Nhaikyia Smith 5’08 PG (MD) 2020
The St. Mary’s Ryken point guard caught my eye. She was vocal, and very willing to get others the ball scoring position. Interesting when you see a kid actually run a team in a camp setting. She showed some perimeter shooting as well.

Jayla Oden 5’07 G (MD) 2021
Enjoyed seeing the growth made in Oden’s game. She has always strived in the open court. I last saw Oden last spring at the EGBAA games. Seeing her Saturday with some added strength, the athletic guard was able to get to the basket at will and finish with contact. Oden was also able to knock down the perimeter shot. I look forward to seeing her during the high school season.

Mikaela Brunais 5’08 PG (VA) 2020
Brunais just continued to make plays all day at the ECE100. Brunais was not the biggest, fastest or strongest PG but every time you look up she was involved in a positive basketball play. She shot the ball efficiently from all three levels, displayed bball IQ & protected the ball.
