Arella Guirantes a 5’10” G from Bellport HS in Bellport, NY (2015) and her dad Rob have made a decision to reclassify her into the class of 2016. NYGHoops Report got a chance to catch-up with Guirantes Sunday morning at The Lady Choz Mecca Event. “Right now I’m looking at a lot of New Jersey schools; Blair, Berkshire (NH) and Petti School. If we get in contact with some more prep schools we can go take visits and see which one we like the best.”
On Friday night Guirantes who scored her 2000
thpoint in a victory verses Eastport-South Manor. She went on to say “I’m still open in the process. I’m at 90% with doing the prep year; it’s going to take a good college fit for me to change my mind.”
The 16 years old guard has elevated her game and is now looking to turn that into national recognition. While playing for her local high school the young Guirantes has demonstrated that she can flat out score. When asked about the college recruiting process, “I’m just looking for a program, with a team that I can fit in and a coach that is going to let me play my game not really change it up that much. I would also like to play a good schedule… I want to play all the big team. Academically I am looking for a program that has great academics and my major (Criminal Justice).”
So far this year she is leading Long Island if not the state of New York in scoring at 32 points per game and chipping in 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.9 blocks. The scorer did nothing to hurt her reputation scoring 41 points in a victory at the event.
