Many players recruiting has been affected by the covid19 pandemic this spring. However, Rye high school 6-foot-2 combo forward Amanda Latkany (2021) who plays AAU ball with the Empire State Blue Flames organization- It’s been quite the opposite effect this past spring. Most recently picking up an Ivy League scholarship offer from Brown University.. NYGHR got a chance to communicate with the rising senior about what she is looking for in a school and said :
“I am looking for a school that has the perfect balance of high academics and competitive basketball; I’m looking to play for a coach that will push me to be the best version of myself.” The all state forward averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals per game, while leading her team to a 19-4 record and a berth to the county center final four this past season. When asked about what schools has, she been in dialog with?
“I have been talking to high academic schools; I have been mainly speaking to Ivy League and Patriot League Schools as well as other high academic schools in the Northeast.”
Amanda plans on keeping us updated on her recruiting, but in the meantime, one can assume she will continue to keep working. “The biggest growth in my game that led me to get multiple D1 offers is my versatility. Being 6’2, I can play any position on the floor.”
Latkany currently holds offers from Brown University, Wagner University , Sacred Heart University, and Manhattan College.
