BRONX, N.Y. – The third annual East-Coast Halloween Showcase was hosted at Harry S. Truman High School In New York City. The event was advertised as one of the top pre-winter Middles School events in the nation and it lived up to its billing. Players and teams participated from the following states: California, Arizona, Ohio, Georgia, Mass, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maine. While I personally did not get a chance to see every game, here are some of the prospects that caught my eye in 7th & 8th grade divisions.
8th Annual BlueStar 30 Westfield, IN – NYGHoops Report got a chance to travel to the Hoosier state to catch many of the nation’s top rising high school freshman & eight graders. At the 8th Annual Bluestar 30 event.
In the world of high school sports, few moments are as exhilarating as the experience of being recruited by colleges. For a sophomore basketball player, this journey represents a significant step towards their dreams of playing at the collegiate level. Meet 6 foot 2, sophomore Julia Scott, who attends Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia, N.Y.
Staten Island, N.Y. native Vanessa McManus, used her summer to improve her game. While many prospect play AAU during the summer, McManus decided to focus on improving her game training twice a day 6 days a week. The previous summer she played for the Jersey Gemz 16u EYBL.
GREENWICH, CT- Day one of the inaugural New England Prepatory School Athletic Council, Girls June Scholastic Event was a huge success. This three-day showcase event took place at the Sacred Heart Greenwich school athletic facilities. Day one only hosted half of the participants, these are 10 prospects that caught my eye.
It’s an annual right of passage in girls’ grassroots basketball, the first stop on the Nike EYBL circuit, the storied Boo Williams Invitational. NYG Hoops was in the building to capture as much of the action as we could. With the 15, 16, and 17 EYBL divisions, plus the middle school divisions, and the non-EYBL brackets, there was a ton to see between both host sites. We wanted to give a special focus this year to the younger players, particularly the ones who find themselves playing up this summer and testing their metal against older opponents.
The WPA Bruins once again hosted one of the biggest early season club basketball events of the year last weekend in Pittsburgh, and NYG Hoops was in the building to catch all of the action. We saw teams up and down the age groups from all three major shoe circuits, as well as some of the top Independent programs from the East Coast and Midwest. If what we saw was any indication, we are in line for what should be a great ride this spring and summer.
Laurel, MD- This past weekend a number of middle school prospects from MD, VA, PA, NJ & OH attended the “I’M Her Premier 80 camp”, at St Vincent Pallotti High School. I was quite impressed with the level of talent that attended. These are a few prospects that stood out during camp.
Bronx, NY – Roundball Classic has been one of the premier Boys/Girls fall leagues in the Big Apple for well over a decade. NYGHoops Report goa chance to stop into the gym last week to catch three games prior to the playoffs.
Bronx, N.Y.- The 8th annual, NYGHoops Super 64 Showcase was held this past weekend in the Bronx section of NYC. The event was divided into two sessions, a morning session which featured middle school players and an afternoon session that was comprised of high school student-athletes. As in years past this event has been a springboard for many of the nation’s top prospects. Below are some of the prospects that caught my eye during camp.
Every year players go under the radar throughout the country. One player that has been a name popping up on multiple occasions is 2024 5’5 PG Rylie Ronsenberg of New Rochelle high school. Coaches and teams in NY State section 1, are quite familiar with the junior guard who averaged 12.2 as a fresham and 18.6 as a sophomore.
Every year a prospect comes out of nowhere and surprises you, Last season that player was six foot combo forward, Bronx, N.Y. native Saran Camara of South Bronx Preparatory high school (2024).
Wilmington, DE- This past weekend I got a chance to be in the gym for two-days with campers from NM, NY, NJ, CT, MD, PA at The East Coast Takeover. Here are some of the top performing campers at the camp.
Bronx, NY – After a two-year hiatus this was NYG Hoops first event back in the Big Apple. The NYG Super 64 skills, drills and evaluation camp did not disappoint. Just like in years past many of the names you will hear in the future spent the day camping with us at Monsignor Scanlan High School in the Bronx. Below are some of the award winners of camp as well as other top performers of the day.
Whitestone, NY- Olivia Vukosa, will attend Christ the King regional H.S. next fall. During the winter / Spring many speculated on where she would end up. The 6-foot-4 Queens native has made it official. NYGHoops Report got a chance to speak to her dad, Damir Vukosa.
Springfield, MA- Over the weekend, the South End Community Center housed the 4trh NYGSuper64 Skills Drills & Evaluation Camp in New England. This was the first stop of the three-city camp tour. Prospects from NY, NJ, PA, VT, CT, MA & NH participated in the one-day event. There were tons of standout players over the weekend, the NYGHoops Report staff has highlighted a few of them. Nia Edens (CT) 2024, was crowned the 1 on 1 Champ. Heaven Morris (MA) 2023 was named the high school MVP, Skyler Burke (CT) 2026, named middle school MVP & Taylor Brown (PA) 2027 was named Defensive camper of the day.
Hampton, VA – Spring is in the air and club basketball season is well underway. The Boo Williams Sports Complex was the destination for the April Eval Period last weekend, and the players from the Northeast showed up and showed out in a big way.
Scranton, PA – Let's run through some of the top performers and teams from last weekend's Hoop Group Pennsylvania Warm Up event, located at the amazing Riverfront Sports Complex. These are my top performers, and the teams `from the 17 under divisions. I got a chance to see these teams play twice during the one day at the event.
New Jersey – Due to a snowstorm this year the 6th annual NYG Coast 2 Coast Jr. All American camp ended up at two sites. The first site Monroe NJ was on the original date. The Mt Laurel, New Jersey ended up being a make-up date. Both dates ended up having talented future NCAA WBB prospects. Below are some of the participants that stood out during camp.
MADE HOOPS Hampton, VA – NYGHoops Report got a chance to attend session 1 of MADE Hoops. The two-day event had teams participating from NY, NJ, MA, MD, VA, NC, MI, VA, DC and FL. From the games I got to see, these are the prospect I felt had the best weekend.
