Yonkers, N.Y.- Tri State Classic hosted an open run to end the month. The high school session event hosted many players from NY, CT & PA. NYGHoops Report was on hand to take in the action. This write up will focus on some of the players that caught my eye during the run.
Taylor Barbot 5’8 Point Guard (NY) 2023
Loads of talent here with this twin. She turned in a pretty strong performance during the open run. Nice combinations length, athletic ability, and skillsets. At times she made it look almost effortless. Nice stroke from the perimeter that extends to the arc and not afraid to lock up on the defensive end,
Sydney Scott 5’8 Guard (PA) 2022
I’ve become quite familiar with Scott over the years, both during the HS season and the circuit. She will never blow you away with her style of play, very vanilla. But in a bottom-line business, she finds ways to get things done. Hard nose two-way player that shares the ball with teammates even at an exposure open run. You will never question her heart or effort.
Paris Nosworthy 5’9 Wing (NY) 2022
Physically imposed herself during the open run. Played bigger than her listed size. Good defensive instincts. Played passing lanes well and got her hands on tons of 50/50 balls. Parris exhibited the ability to knock down shots during the run.
Dakota Daniellos 5’3 Point Guard (NY) 2023
Came into the open run fully aware of Daniello. Don’t let the size fool you Dakota can flat out score the ball.
Shanelle Smith 5’8 Guard (NY) 2022
A patient combo guard, physical off the bounce. Not afraid to lower her shoulder to create space. Showed the ability to finish with contact. Nice pull-up jumper. Nice change of pace guard.
Makenzie Williams 6’4 (NY) 2024
Not yet a finished product. But has made some huge strikes from the summer when I last saw her. Rim protector that plays primarily with her back to the basket on the offensive end. When she gets it keep in the paint you are at her mercy.
Sherdan Oberhand 5’6 Guard (CT) 2024
Green Farm Academy guard was a nice find at the run. Solid build guard that can score in the paint just as easy as she can score from behind the arc. Dependable ball handler that played on and off the ball. IQ and understands angles and limitations.
Kaila Richards 5’7 Guard (NY) 2024
This southpaw NYC guard has been coming on strong after the summer. So, we expected nothing less from her at the open run. Richards a dependable ball handler with some range on her shot. She understands pace and used some change of speed moves and slick ball-handling to get into the lane. Displayed the ability to finish using either hand as well as finish through contact.
Skyla Norton 6'00 Forward (NY) 2021
Active long wing displayed the ability to both play in the lane and on the perimeter. Played even bigger than her listed size as she made it very difficult for the offense to score around the rim. Showed touch out to the arc.
