She Got Game

Last week NYGHoops Report got a chance to cover the 7 ^th Annual She got Game Tournament. The tournament has become the premier tip-off northeast event. This write-up will focus on unsigned seniors (2019) I was able to see at the event.

Destiny Samuel 6’02 Baldwin HS NY
 
Samuel’s has a long athletic college ready frame, only got to see her once this past weekend. She played mostly facing the rim, and showed the ability to start the break from the defensive boards. Her energy and willingness to mix it up in the lane was sorely missed by her team because of foul trouble during most of the game.
 
 
Melijah Sullivan 5’11 W Winter Haven H.S. FL
 
Big athletic talented perimeter player, showed the ability to play on or off the ball at the high school level. Projects more as a 2 or 3 in collegiate level. Exhibited no problem getting to the basket or scoring in the two games I saw.
 
Assiya Berry 6’02 F Miami Country Day FL
 
Thick framed post, good feel for the game, showed the ability to score verses taller post as well as finishing easy baskets around the rim. She was a load in the lane as she established post position, good passer both out of double teams or outlets. In the games I saw, she was efficient with her touches.
 
Mya Maoye 5’06 G Anacostia HS DC
 
Super athletic scoring guard, plays with a swag and confidence , gets into the lane at will. Knocked down a few mid-range shots, drove and dished, but also displayed range from behind the arc.  High school coach informed me she is a qualifier.
 
 
Infinity Hammons 5’05 PG Murry Bergtraum HS NY
 
Smallish lefty play making scoring guard. Hammons displayed range beyond the three-point line. Crafty self-confident floor general, handles, distributes and played with flare and swagger.
 
 
 
Lauren Batac 5’01 Archbishop Molloy NY
 
Smallish two guard, does the little things that helps the chemistry of the team. Willing perimeter defender, good IQ, and will knock down the three-point shot. Strong academic prospect.
