Washington, DC- NYGHoops Report go a chance to visit the “She Got Game” classic at Woodrow Wilson HS on Sunday. The event was a three day event that hosted 90 teams, under three different roofs in the DMV area.
Ashley Owusu 5’11” G Paul VL 2019 (VA)
Owusu is a ninth grader with a frame and game that is well beyond her years. She handles the ball well, attacks the basket with purpose and finishes at a high percentage. Maybe one of the most physical perimeter young players I've seen in a minute, but also showed the versatility to step out and connect on the 3-point shot. Sky is the limit for this young scorer.
Mykea Gray 5’05” PG National Christian Academy 2017 (MD)
Small point guard in stature with a big game. Athletic, crafty player that loves to play in a fast paced transition game. She is a very good ball handler that can shoot the three ball and has a quick first step, which allows her to beat the defender off the dribble. Again this weekend she showed all those skills, plus showed the ability to run a very talented team. This kid is very underrated.
Boothe passes the eyeball test with her strong 6’2” frame. She is a threat to score the minute she arrives in the game. Her size, strengthand grace allows her to play in the paint, while her skill set and God given abilities allows her play on the perimeter. The lone game I got to see verses Forrest Trail (NC), she was a women amongst very talented high school players. She demonstrated guard like ball handling skills and the shooting range of an army sniper. She reminds me a lot of Jamal Washburn.
Milicia Reid 5’07” PG Bishop Loughlin HS 2016 (NY)
Mimi mostly played off the ball on the wing verses a talented St Frances (MD) teams. Reid was efficient with her shot selection and getting to the basket. When attacking the basket she did a good job avoiding defenders but not shying away from contact at the rim ensuring herself an opportunity to get to the free throw line. She finished with a team high 19 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
Andrea Espinoza-Hunter 6’00 W Blair Academy 2017 (NJ) UCOUN
Espinoza-Hunter has been around high school hoops and has been committed to UConn for some time now. Every time out it feels like she adds a new dimension to her game. On Sunday, I felt that her ability to play in the post was a key to Blair Academy defeating Elizabeth Seton HS.
