Former Mury Bergtraum point guard Milicia "Mimi" Reid has transferred to CHSAA Bishop Loughlin. Reid spent one season at Bergtraum where she averaged 10 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game. NYGHR got a chance to speak to the sophomore guard "I needed to be academically challenged and with the new NCAA requirements of needing to pass 16 core courses I felt I needed to be in a more structured and disciplined environment; because I’ve already faced a situation that could place me at a disadvantage of staying on my goal of being D1 eligible."
Reid who was one of the top prospects in the 2017 class in the public school system, is already being recruited by schools like Hofstra, ECU, VCU, Fordham, St Johns, Kentucky, George Washington and Columbia. The move should not be that difficult for Reid who is familiar with Laughlin having completed the required summer school program for incoming freshman a year ago.
"Now being at bishop Loughlin all my needs are going to be met academically and athletically;
I had a great Freshman Year Under The Leadership Of Coach G, at Murry Bergtraum athletically, but academically the school did not meet my expectations. I will miss playing with Ashanae McLaughlin, Alexandria Smith, and Aaliyah Jones. They have expressed their support of my decision."
