Why isn’t Paulina Paris’s (2022) name mention in top 100 conversation in her class? As, I’ve travel throughout the nation covering basketball. I can’t say that I’ve seen six PG’s that have accomplished as much as her in high school and AAU combined in her class over the past year. The only logical reason I can come with is her residence. The New City, NY resident lives in Orange county which is about 9 miles away from the New Jersey border and 30 miles away from NYC. So she does not get to relish in the glamour that comes with being a NYC point guard nor does she get the brilliant media coverage provided to New Jersey prospect.
NYGHR got a chance to speak to the 5-foot-9 Albertus Magnus rising junior prospect last night. When asked about her recruiting and taking college visits. Paris said “I was supposed to visit a few colleges before the pandemic hit, but I am maintaining communication with different universities and building relationships with them.” At seasons end, the star guard was named Rockland County player of the year for the second year in a row. While only playing two varsity season she has already surpassed the 1,000-career points mark, against a competitive section1 schedule. She shot 55% from the field and 33% from behind the arc.
Her hard work has not gone unnoticed as she is being recruited by UCLA, Florida, North Carolina, Villanova, Quinnipiac, Miami, Yale, Manhattan, Bucknell, Richmond, DePaul, Oakland, Georgia Tech, Marquette and Elon. When asked what she is looking for in a school Paris replied “A competitive environment that provides a strong athletic and academic program. I’m also looking for a family type program and a system where everyone works together.” Last summer she played in the UAA circuit with Team Rio (U17) she did more that hold her own against some of the nation’s top talents. When asked about the leaps she made in her game Paulina said she is making sure she is “eating the right foods and maintaining a consistent training regimen helped me my freshmen year. For next year, I just had to keep up the same work and work harder than I did last year; I have to try and add more to my game so that I can become more successful.”
Paullina plans on keeping us updated on her recruitment, but in the meantime, one can assume she will continue to keep working.
