Memphis, TN- This past weekend there were plenty of talent in attendance at the Insider Exposure Jr. All- American camp with classes ranging from 2017-2024. NYGHoops was in attendance to provide blanket coverage for the event. This write up does not cover all of the prospect at the event, only some of the players that will be in Junior High next season.
Saniah Tyler 5’06” G Midwest Select 2022
One of the events best shooting guards due to her mixture of skill, athleticism, body control and effort. She may be a bit short for the position but compensates with a strong build and ability to cover ground. Taylor’s first step makes it hard for defenders to stay in front of her. She did most of her damage attacking the rim, playing unselfishly sharing the ball and came up with a few passes that had the crowd in amazement. On the defensive end she gave an honest effort trying to stay with the player she was guarding, but also roamed at times coming up with steals and helping out rebounding. As she improves her form on her three point shot, that will help her with more consistence on her perimeter shot.
Cierra Taylor 5’07” PG Tenn Flight Select 2021
One of the few junior high players allowed to participate on Saturday with the high school players. It did not take long to take notice of her, as she slashed and dashed through defenders. She did not shoot it much from the perimeter, however when she had the ball in her hands coming down hill something positive happened. Her physique allowed her to take hits and finish with contact, she also thrived as a distributor.
Naijah Vann 5’01” PG New Heights 2021
There are some prospects who require some nuance on figuring out why they will become college prospects. Vann is not one of those prospects, the crafty floor general wasted no time showing off her skill set right from the beginning of the event. While her ball handling is smooth she is very careful with the ball and possession of it. She showed court vision and knows how to use her athleticism and ability to create off the dribble to benefit her teammates from both spot up shooters & cutters.
Janel Moore 5’02” PG New Heights 2021
In this generation of score first PG, it was breath of fresh air to see this future pass first floor general. Moore looks the part, with her athletic muscular built frame. On the defensive end, she showed good lateral movement, a nose for ball loose balls, steals and rebounding. She finished in transition and showed the ability to knock down the three points shot when left open.
Taylor Veach 5’02” G Iowa Prep 2022
Veach who does not look physically imposing, resembles the kid next door. However, this lefty shooter did a good job from drills to 5 on 5, finding ways to score. Whether shooting the three ball or using ball fakes and attacking, Taylor showed some basketball IQ and good fundamentals.
