Brooklyn, NY – Year two of Bria Hartley High School Showcase was a huge success. Year one was hosted in East Flatbush at Nazareth HS. In the 2
nd year the event expanded by moving to a The Post, a two-court facility in Williamsburg Brooklyn with over 40 teams participating from NY, NJ, PA, DE and Fl. I was not able to cover the event from start to finish, but I did drop in daily for the majority of games. These are some of the top performers from what I’ve seen over the three days.
Sonia Citron 6’1 W (Ursuline HS, NY 2021)
In her lone game at the event she started out playing the distributor role making sure all her teammates got going. But down the stretch in the 4
thquarter and overtime - she finished off the opposition with a bunch of midrange pull-ups finishing the game with 31 points, 12 rebounds and 5 steals.
Valencia Fontenelle-Posson 5’11 W (Guilderland, NY 2021)
This up state prospect is under the radar. I got to the chance to see her play twice over the weekend. Her ability to score the ball while being the primary defensive focus was breath taking. She never stops moving, displayed range to the arc, got to the free throw line and did a solid job rebounding.
Allorie Kubek 6’00 W/F (Sanford, DE 2020) Towson Commit
For sure one of the best insides /outside players at the event. She reminds me of a former Delaware player of the year Betnijah Laney. Range to the arc, ability to play with her back to the basket and did a good job rebounding and defending for her size.
Khila Morris 5’10 G (FDA, NY 2022)
This is another lesser known young prospect that plays in the PSAL. Has solid ball handling skills and size allows her to get into the lane at will. Capable scorer who has no problem sharing the ball with teammates.
Nicole Melious 5’8 G (Susan Wagner HS, NY 2023)
The Purdue commit has been on a tear. Her stellar play has her team undefeated at 8-0. She is well known for her scoring / shooting abilities. Nicole displayed toughness, play making ability and range well beyond the arc. But another thing that stood out was her ability to make the right play and get teammates involved.
Kaitlyn Sanders 5’7 PG (Gulliver Prep, FL 2020)
Sanders is limited in height and girth but, her three-point shooting ability, craftiness and body control makes her a threat to score as soon as she touches the ball. Used both hands well attacking off the bounce and effective distributor.
Kelsey Bess 5’10 G (Penn Charter, PA 2023)
Bess is a strong long athletic wing player with good skill on the perimeter that allows her to play the point at times. She has the ability to score at the rim or from outside the three. She sees the floor well and shows some ability to take over.
Aleah Snead 5’11 G (Penn Charter, PA 2023)
Snead has scoring play making ability, she looked like she was just beginning to scratch the surface with her potential. She has good perimeter skills and knocked down multiple threes during the game I saw. She uses her long lean athletic built well, even against bigger players.
Alexa Quiroll 5’11 W (Ursuline, NY 2020) St. Anselm commit
Quiroll versatility and grit served well during her lone game at the event. Finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and the win helping her team move to 6-0.
Azareya Kilgoe 5’6 PG (SANFORD SCHOOL, DE 2023)
Kendall Haymore 6’1 F Gulliver Prep, FL 2020)
Nya Davis 5’3 PG (John Jay HS, NY 2020)
Aiyana Hicks 6’1 W (Murry Bergtraum HS, 2020)
Carmen Williams 5’10 G (Penn Charter PA 2020)
Brianna Sciarrino 5’6 G (St joseph Hill, NY 2020)
Lauren Persichetty 5’7 G (Wagner HS, NY 2021)
Vanessa Kraker 6’1 F (Tottenville HS, NY 2020)
