Nashville, TN- Last week, Insider Exposure hosted the Apache Memorial Showcase in the greater Nashville, TN area. The third year event has quickly become a pivotal player in the summer recruiting period with over 150 teams and college coaches from all over the United States. NYGHoops Report was in attendance for this two-day event. Many players were deserving of being in this write up but these were some of the players I had a chance to see play more than one game.
Kierra Fletcher 5’10 G/W 1 Nation 16U (MI) 2017
Fletcher is a very good athlete and was one of the most well rounded players in her class at the event. She used her quickness in the open court and her ability to finish with contact over taller players in the lane to her advantage. Interesting enough she played with a finger injury and her hand wrapped up. But it did not seem to affect her play at all during the event, guiding her team to two victories on day one of the event.
Sayawni Lassiter 5’11 PG Boston Showstoppers 17U (MA) 2017
Not many would argue if it was said she was a top five prospect at this event in her class. Lassiter had the building buzzing with her play. The crafty confident Mass PG shot the ball well from behind the art, scored in transition and played with emotion creating easy shots for teammates. After the event I was I’m hearing she now holding offers from power 5, Ohio State, West Virginia, Kentucky, Minnesota and Florida State.
Tylar Bennett 6’04 P 1 Nation 16U (MI) 2017
Bennett size alone merits notice, but when combined with her athletic ability that made her very noticeable on the court. Most of her scoring was done in the lane on put backs or drop steps. Where this lefty excelled was on the defensive end sprinting back, rebounding, deflecting or blocking shots and as a help side defender.
Marlee Kyles 5’07 PG Mac Irving Godfather (IL) 2017
Crafty scoring lead guard that can flat-out play whether on or off the ball. Kyles was a stat sheet stuffer with her scoring, rebounding, steals and assists.
Lynette Tate 5’07 PG New Heights 17U (NY) 2017
Tate may not be a house hold name but she did a great job running her team at the Apache Memorial Showcase. Playing against some high profile guards Tate did a nice job holding her own. She showed a nice balance between being able to score, run a team and defend.
Best way to describe this Philly product is a throwback. Luma did a good job using her size posting up versus smaller player and took it to the perimeter against bigger players. She showed touch from the perimeter with range that extended to the three-point line.
Amina Wiley 6’1 F Westchester Hoopers 16U (NY) 2017
Power player with some deceptive skills, can face to attack the rim. Has nice combination of power and finesse; showed nice touch around the rim finished with contact and was crafty with finding ways to score.
Mia Davis 5’11 F MD Shooting Stars 11
th (MD) 2017
Davis proved to be one of those type players every programs wants. She played like a warrior battling for every rebound on both ends verses bigger and taller players. She also showed defensive tractability in guarding in the paint as well as on the perimeter. She showed perimeter touch that required a nice first step attacking the basket. She reminds me of Ashunae Durrant of Hofstra University.
Jordan Nixon 5’10 PG IExcel 17u (NY/NJ) 2018
She is an athletic, crafty combo that can run a team and make plays. Nixon’s had good elevation on her mid range shot, showed the ability to separate consistently from defenders and great command on running a team. Between her quickness, ball handling and confidence Nixon did a good job in keeping her team around in
Marissa Mackins 5’08” PG Carolina Play Hard 15U (NC) 2018
Mackins did just about everything for her team. The two games I got to see she was the primary ball handler and scorer for her team. Although the oppositions defense was designed to stop her, she found ways to continue to score.
Diamond Battle 5’09 G FGB Courtney Williams (FL) 2018
It only took two possessions to quickly asses’, Battle’s athlete ability says BCS player. She was a menace on the defensive end in her team’s full court press, deflecting passes and closing on passes coming up with multiple break away steals. On the offensive end she showed the ability to score at all three levels.
Kelvajna “Kelly” Foster 5’10 W Lady Phoenix Elite (NC) 2018
When watching the Lady Phoenix this, lefty athletic rising junior jumped right out at you. Easy to see she will be a D1 prospect, that will be climbing up the recruiting charts over the course of the next two years. Foster excelled in transition and with her feet set showed range to the three-point line.
Daphane White 6’04 F MHSP Williams (MS) 2018
Long, lean, lefty athlete that played hard on both ends. Showed good bounce, blocked shots, played facing up some and posted up using her quickness to beat defenders down the court for positioning. Created extra offensive opportunities for her self hustling on offensive boards and got to the free throw line a great deal.
Ariel Young 6’00 W NFL Elite Gold (FL) 2018
Long athletic play making W/G. Young showed the willingness to guard all positions. Excelled guarding perimeter player using her length to crowd offensive plays and came up with multiple steals playing passing lanes.
Brunelle continues to impress not only with her ability to shoot at her size but also with her play making abilities. She displayed the skill sets to be a true inside outside type player at the highest level.
Mariah Perez 6’03 P KJ Basketball 15u (NJ) 2019
Aggressive post that did a good job on the boards and protecting the basket. In the age of perimeter face up players, she has a emerging offensive game primarily with her back to the basket. She got to the free throw line at a good rate.
Quick Hitter Brittany Garner 6’04 P Philly Freedom Stars UA Elite 2018
Janai Crooms 5’10 G Rivals Black (NE) 2018
Correna Ellis 6’01 F TN Glory Platinum (TN) 2018
Jade Young 5’11 G Philly Triple Threat (PA) 2017
Jaelynn Murray 6’2 F SC 76ers (SC) 2017
Mahogany Vaught 5’07 PG Team Slink Pink (TN/KY/MS) 2017
Tatiana Thompson 6’02 F FGB Courtney Williams (FL) 2017
Re'Yanna Jones 5'07 G FGB Courtney Williams (FL) 2019
Teal Battle 6’00 W Memphis Mambas (TN) 2017
Kaelyn Satterfield 6’00 W/F New Heights (NY) 2019
Sophia Tougas 5’11 G/W Rivals Gold (NE) 2019
Mary Foster 6’04 P NDO 16u (NY) 2018
