Syracuse, NY – The 2
nd Annual Slinky Academy was again hosted at Nottingham HS. Forty plus prospects from New York and New Jersey attended the event hosted by one of Syracuse University greatest players. The 5 hour event concentrated on skilled development, comptitions and some 5 on 5 play. NYGHoops Report, covered this event and got to see some new prospects. These are some of the standouts from the event.
Noami Pierce 6’01 F (Paul VI, NJ 2020)
Size and length pops right out you, the long lean athletic forward ran the floor well. Protected the rim blocking multiple shots during 5 on 5 play. Showed some ability to play facing the rim, as she continues to fill out her frame college coaches will take notice.
Aysia Pink 5’06 PG (Guilderland HS, NY 2017)
Pink was a joy to watch at Slinky Academy. Nice size and strength at the lead guard position, her scorers mentality was on full display. Effective ball handler can that sliced through defender and showed the ability to connect on the three-point shot.
Abby Wilkinson 5’06 PG (Bishop Grimes, NY 2019) pictured
Wilkinson stood out because of her passion and intensity she played with on the floor. Not to mention her consistent scoring from all three levels. She was named MVP of the camp, for her production in 5 on 5, Drills and Stations.
Daja Wentz 5’07 PG (Monsignor Scanlan HS, NY 2019)
Wentz did most of her damage in the open floor, using her combination of strength, speed and ball handling to get to the rim. She did show the ability to knock down a few mid-range shots, but was at her best when getting to the rim and distributing to open teammates.
Isabella Zukowski 5’11 F (ST Johns Villa Academy 2020)
Zukowski made a name for herself at the camp simply from her work ethic. Her grand mom drove her 4 hours to the camp, and she not waste her grand moms time. She played primarily in the paint area and did a great job scoring effectively and efficiently over taller players with her baby hook shot and foot work.
Kaia Henderson 5’05 PG (New Hartord, NY 2022)
Smooth game manger with pass first mentality, drove the lane and delivered passing or scoring. Crafty strong ball handler skilled, productive in transition and executed in half-court. Excelled both during drills and 5 on 5 play.
Ella Rainbow 5’05 PG (Oneida HS, NY 2021)
Kayla Williams 5’10 W (Rancocas Valley, NJ 2020)
Amarah Streiff 5’10 (Syracuse Royals 2023)
